Train The Teacher has broken new ground as the first Trinity CertTESOL to engage trainees in teaching practice with both adults and young learners. Partnered with Rainbow Station School in Shanghai, our trainees had the opportunity to spend half their teaching practice teaching children aged from 5 to 8, applying what they had learnt about communicative language teaching and classroom management to the young learner classroom.
Our diverse group of trainees hailed from the US, the UK, South Africa, the Philippines and China, and they became incredibly closely-knit over the duration of the course. They all worked incredibly hard over the ten weeks, showing significant growth in both types of classes. Some trainees had never taught adults, while some had never taught young learners, and so it was especially rewarding for us to see them out of their comfort zone learning, evolving and thriving in distinctly new and challenging teaching environments.
We would like to thank them for their wonderful teaching and dedication to their students, both children and adult; their support for each other; their determination to keep going and their enthusiasm and energy even during the most intense parts of their journey.
We wish them all our warmest congratulations on being the pioneers on the first Trinity CertTESOL for Adults and Young Learners, for their successes on the course, and for their personal as well as professional growth since we started in October. We have no doubt that they will continue to grow in their careers as great teaching models and effective educators for both children and adults.
